Our story is about two brothers, Jose "Buddy" and Angel "Albert", that had, in addition to having a close relationship, they both had a dream that goes back decades. A dream to work together, brother alongside brother. Well that dream came to fruition in 2020 and after finishing out a space in Forney, La Tienda Escondida opened its doors in April of 2021.
What is La Tienda Escondida? It's an idea taken from experience of working with many of the local mexican "carnicerias" throughout the DFW Metroplex. It's a slightly different take on a mexican meat market while holding true to the authentic grocery products, meat market and food served in the taqueria. Different in that the brothers have both lived in the Forney area since 1998 and affords them the opportunity to serve their family, friends and neighbors. It is a true family atmosphere without being artificial in its sincerity.
We have an authentic "carniceria" or mexican meat market with mexican marinated meats, milanesa, picana, as well as more typical cuts of meat such as ribeyes, T-bones, pork chops and many others.
We also have an authentic mexican taqueria restaurant with everything made from scratch such as quiso de lengua, quiso de puerco, and many authentic options such as gorditas, tortas, burritos, caldos (soups) and much, much more.
In addition, we have a small specialty convenience/grocery store with dry goods, mexican soft drinks imported from Mexico, and fresh produce. The grocery section is more about convenience and has a limited selection of staple items like salt, sugar, pepper, flour, cooking oil as well as many more items.
We offer convenience with quality products found in larger grocery stores within a family setting.
